Slater And Gordon Burleigh Swim Run

Did you know that in two months, Australia will come alive once again with its nationwide public holiday as it celebrates its National Day?

January 26 marks the day when the First Fleet of British Ships arrived at Pork Jackson, New South Wales in 1788, as well as the raising of the Flag of the Great Britain by Governor Arthur Philip.

Although it is the Land Down Under’s biggest holiday, there are no hard rules to follow on how to spend the day right as long as you’ll not be alone and be merry on that day. You can hold your own party at home, go to a pub for some celebratory drinks, visit historical museums to feed your mind of information about Australia, dress up wearing Australian colours, watch fireworks at night, show your support by flying an Australian flag, or attend local events, and more.

If you opt in doing the last one, why not choose something fun, enjoyable, memorable, and beneficial to yourself? With that, there’s Slater and Gordon Burleigh Swim Run happening at Burleigh Lifeguard Headquarters the same day.

Slater and Gordon Burleigh Swim Run is a fun community fitness event open for the whole family because it has something in store for all ages. It is made not just to remind you to keep yourself fit, but also to make your heart pump fast as you go through the challenges of the race you chose.

Coordinated and organised by Ty Dowker and Burleigh SLSC, the event has various race options with numerous categories to choose from.

The Challenge is a 400 metre Ocean Swim and four kilometre Path Run that is available in either Solo or Team based, and has offered categories in 12 years and below, 13 – 16, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50 and above, open, and there’s also one for mixed gender teams.

Meanwhile, The Taste Tester is a 200 metre Ocean Swim and two kilometre Path Run with no categories available, while The Young Gun Challenge is a 400 metre Wade and 400 metre Path Run for children five to 12 years old. It is categorised according to age—5 – 7, 8 – 9, and 10 – 12.
